A thriving weekly disc golf league is the foundation of a local disc golf scene. Here's how to automate the operations so you can actually throw on league night.
Format: singles or random doubles
Random doubles is the most popular weekly format - it mixes skill levels and grows the community faster than singles. Singles leagues draw the ratings-focused crowd. Some leagues alternate weekly.
Registration and entry fees
$10-15 entry fee with card payment is standard. Cash slows down the first tee, and a percentage of cash players just never pay. Online registration that locks 2 hours before league time solves both.
Scoring and PDGA ratings
Every league round should submit to PDGA for ratings - it's a free PDGA service and it's the single biggest reason people show up. Your platform should export the PDGA CSV in the right format with one click.
Doubles pairing
Random doubles pairings by rating tier. Low-rated players paired with high-rated players so every team has one of each. Most platforms don't support this; SignUpGo's Sports Tier does.
Payouts and CTPs
Closest-to-the-pin (CTP) contests and ace pots turn a $10 league into a $30 night for the top player. Track CTPs on the scorecard, carry ace pots week to week, and pay out in merch or cash per your league rules.
Community and SMS reminders
Tuesday night league? SMS goes out Monday night with a weather forecast and registration link. Weather cancellation? SMS goes out Tuesday 2pm. 1,000 SMS credits a month handles a 40-player weekly league comfortably.
