- Student/Family Information: Student names (for event coordination), parent/guardian contact information
- Communication: Messages you send through our platform or support channels
- Payment Information: Billing details (processed securely through Stripe - we do not store full credit card numbers)
- School Information: School name, contact information, branding preferences
Important: We do NOT collect student academic records, grades, behavior reports, IEPs, health records, or Social Security Numbers. We only collect information necessary to provide event management and communication services.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: How you interact with our platform (page views, features used)
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address
- Cookies: To remember your preferences and improve your experience
- Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics
How We Use Your Information

Data Storage: All data is stored on US-based servers. We use MongoDB Atlas for database hosting and AWS S3 for file storage, both of which provide enterprise-grade security.
Breach Notification: In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected schools within 72 hours and assist with any required notifications to parents/guardians.
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information with industry best practices, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Student Data and FERPA Compliance
FERPA Compliance: SignUpGo is designed to align with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) principles. While FERPA primarily applies to educational institutions, we take student and family privacy seriously and implement measures consistent with FERPA requirements.
What Data We Handle: SignUpGo primarily handles:
- Parent/guardian names, emails, and phone numbers
- Event signups and registration information
- School administrator contact information
- Basic student names (for event coordination only)
What We DON'T Collect: We do not collect or store:
- Student academic records (grades, transcripts)
- Student behavioral reports or disciplinary records
- Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Health records or medical information
- Social Security Numbers
Data Ownership: Schools retain full ownership of all data. SignUpGo acts as a service provider and processes data only to provide our services. We do not sell or share student or family data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Parental Rights: Parents have the right to:
- Access their child's information stored in our system
- Request corrections to inaccurate information
- Request deletion of their child's information
- Opt-out of communications

Data Processing Agreements: We are happy to sign Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with schools that outline our security and privacy commitments. Contact security@signupgo.com to request a DPA.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
SignUpGo complies with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). Our platform is primarily used by parents, guardians, and school administrators - not directly by children under 13.
If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information immediately.

International Users
If you're accessing SignUpGo from outside the United States, please note that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our platform, you consent to this transfer.
